We are seeking motivated and hands-on individuals to join our dynamic Peter Lehmann Wines cellar team. As a Cellar Hand, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our winemaking processes run smoothly, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
About the Role
As a Cellar Hand, you will be responsible for executing a wide range of cellar operations to support the production of premium wines. This includes vintage activities, product transfers, cleaning, and quality control, all in accordance with winemaker specifications and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Cellar Operations
- Set up and perform product transfers, racking, and blending
- Clean and sterilise tanks, hoses, and equipment
- Conduct cooling/warming of products and perform additions
- Load/unload domestic trucks and export containers
- Carry out vintage operations: crushing, pressing, red must handling, centrifuge, RDV
- Operate in confined spaces and handle oak, lees, and barrel work
- Complete and record work orders and data sheets
- Collect samples and dips, manage dry ice and ullages
- Operate filtration systems and maintain general housekeeping
Quality & Safety
- Adhere to WHS policies and procedures
- Follow SOPs and food safety standards
- Participate in training and ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and legal instructions
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Ability to follow SOPs and work effectively in a team
- Good communication, literacy, and numeracy skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Physically fit and able to work at heights and in confined spaces
Desirable
- Relevant licences/certificates:
- Forklift
- Confined Spaces
- LR or MR Licence
- Elevated Work Platform
- Intermediate Boiler
- Certificate III in Wine Industry Operations (Cellar Operations)
