We are looking for a motivated leader with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for quality. You will enjoy working collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment and can confidently manage competing priorities, particularly during vintage.
As Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely analysis to support winemaking, packaging, and quality assurance activities.
You will lead a team of laboratory staff, manage laboratory workflows, maintain equipment and testing programs, and provide valuable technical support to our winemakers.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations
- Oversee routine wine, juice, grape maturity, and wastewater analysis
- Coordinate sample collection and analytical testing
- Ensure accurate recording, interpretation, and reporting of laboratory results
- Prepare and standardise chemical solutions used in analysis
- Manage laboratory quality control processes and confidentiality requirements
- Support bottling quality assurance activities
- Assist with wine show preparation, tastings, investigations, and product evaluations
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and coordinate laboratory staffing and workflows
- Foster a positive culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Provide coaching, guidance, and training to team members
About You
Essential Requirements
- Previous laboratory experience
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities
- Strong communication, literacy, and numeracy skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate IV in Laboratory Operations or higher
- Previous laboratory supervisory or management experience
- Tertiary qualification in Science, Chemistry, Winemaking, or a related discipline
- Experience within the wine, beverage, food, or manufacturing industries
